The Deschutes County Work Center is operated by the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office. Research materials describe it as a work-center and jail-support housing facility, not as a separate jail department. The official sheriff visitation page uses the Work Center as the location for free on-site social video visits, and it also notes video visitation stations in jail and Work Center housing units.
The Work Center address is 63360 Britta Street in Bend. It sits near county community justice offices, including Adult Parole and Probation and Juvenile Community Justice buildings. Those offices should not be confused with jail custody. A person housed through the Work Center remains part of the sheriff custody system, and public custody questions still route through the Deschutes County Adult Jail information line.

Deschutes County Work Center Visits
The Work Center is central to Deschutes County jail visitation because the sheriff's visitation rules place free on-site social visits there. Social visits are video visits. Face-to-face social visits are not offered. A free visit may last 30 minutes, and each inmate is limited to two free social visits per week. Up to two social visitors may join a free visit, not counting one baby or toddler on an adult's lap.

The research is specific on one point: mail should be addressed to the Adult Jail at 63333 Hwy 20 West, Bend, OR 97703. Do not use the Britta Street address as a made-up inmate mailing address. Mail must travel by U.S. Postal Service, include a complete return name and address, and pass inspection.

Deschutes County Work Center Capacity
The Facility Map notes two Work Center capacity references. A Deschutes County 2025 correctional-facility access-control RFP identifies the Work Center as a separate building near the Adult Jail with capacity for 90 sentenced offenders. An older county emergency jail-management order described the same total as 72 male and 18 female beds. The official sheriff public pages reviewed did not publish a current daily Work Center population, average daily population, or demographic table.
That gap matters for search accuracy. A roster record may confirm that a person is in the sheriff custody system, but public pages may not show whether the person is in the Adult Jail building, Work Center housing, a court movement, or another temporary status. Housing information can also change due to program classes, work assignments, medical needs, safety concerns, court holds, or classification decisions.
Deschutes County Work Center Status
Work-release means the facility can hold sentenced offenders and jail-support housing where some people may leave the facility for authorized work or programming and return under sheriff rules. It does not mean the person is free from custody. It also does not mean the person has moved to Oregon Department of Corrections prison custody. If a sentence results in a DOC transfer, the correct search tool becomes Oregon Offender Search, and county visitation rules no longer control.
For public records, keep the record owner in mind. Current custody is checked through the Deschutes County roster and jail line. Court charges after a local arrest are checked through Oregon Judicial Department or Deschutes Circuit Court records. Historic sheriff records or releasable booking material may require a DCSO Records request. Deschutes County Work Center Court
Security, often called bail by the public, is posted through the Deschutes County Adult Jail process. The sheriff's posting bail page says an adult age 18 or older, except another inmate, may post security 24 hours a day. The amount can change when charges or court orders change. Business-hours payments go to the main jail lobby, and after-hours payments use the Inmate Services door.
In-custody court events also remain tied to the Adult Jail and Deschutes County Circuit Court process. DCSO says in-custody defendants appear by video court from the jail. The public can view a video arraignment from the courthouse. If the court releases a person, modifies a hold, or changes a security amount, the roster and housing status can lag behind the court event until custody staff process the order.
