Deschutes County Jail Roster
The official current-inmate channel is the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Current Inmate List. The sheriff states that the list is updated continuously and reflects current custody status. It also states that inmate name and offense information are available to the public. The embedded roster runs through the public-safety-cloud.com JailTracker system, with a direct fallback link to the Deschutes County JailTracker roster if the sheriff wrapper page does not load.
That roster is for the local jail system. It is the place to check people booked into the Deschutes County Adult Jail after arrests by county deputies, Bend police, Redmond police, Oregon State Police, and other local agencies. It is not a statewide prison list, a federal prison list, or an immigration custody list. A person sentenced to Oregon prison moves to Oregon Department of Corrections records. A person transferred to federal or immigration custody must be checked through the federal locator that matches that custody type.
Use Deschutes County Records
Start with the sheriff roster when the arrest is recent or when the person may still be in the Bend jail. Use exact spelling if known, but try a shorter name if a full legal name does not return a match. The research did not confirm a public reset button in the Deschutes JailTracker interface, so the safest approach is to clear or edit the search field that is visible in the roster window.
- Open the sheriff's Current Inmate List and wait for the embedded JailTracker roster to load.
- If the roster frame fails, open the public-safety-cloud JailTracker link from the sheriff page directly.
- Search by last name or first name when those fields are available. If a current or released status filter appears, start with current custody.
- Open a matching profile when the roster permits. Review name, booking identifiers, charges, bond or hold fields, court dates, and release status.
- If no result appears, call the Adult Jail information line at (541) 388-6661. Booking-specific questions can go to (541) 388-6682.
- For older records, reports, or documents, use the sheriff Records Unit and the public-records request process.
Booking records can lag behind an arrest while intake, identity checks, charges, and holds are entered. A blank search result does not prove that no arrest occurred. It may mean the person was cited and released, booked under a different name, transferred, not yet loaded into the public view, or held by another system.

A Deschutes County inmate record can mix booking data, charge data, bond data, court dates, and agency information. The exact public view depends on what JailTracker exposes for that person and what Oregon law allows the sheriff to release. The local booking path begins with arrest or court remand, transport to the Adult Jail, intake, property inventory, charge and hold entry, and custody-status setup. The public pages do not publish a housing-unit map or full classification criteria. The roster model does include facility, charges, holds, status, and special fields, which is enough to orient a caller before contacting jail staff or the court.
Deschutes County Custody Channels
The biggest lookup error is using the right name in the wrong system. The county roster covers local jail custody at the Adult Jail and related Work Center housing. Oregon prison custody is searched through Oregon Offender Search, which accepts first, middle, last, and SID number fields and supports partial-name searches with an asterisk. Custody notifications for Oregon county and state facilities are handled through Oregon VISOR.

The DCSO mobile app is identified in research as Sheriff Connect or Deschutes Sheriff, with a Google Play listing that describes news, events, jail information, and crime-prevention updates. No official app-only inmate roster, warrant search, or records portal was verified, so the online roster and phone channels remain the core inmate-record sources.
Deschutes County Jail Facilities
Deschutes County has two local detention facility entries in the research map. The Adult Jail is the public custody hub and the primary place for inmate records, booking, bail/security posting, jail questions, and court video arraignment custody. The Work Center is a sheriff-operated work-center and jail-support facility that also serves as the free on-site video visitation location.

Deschutes County Visit Rules
After a person is found on the roster, confirm custody before scheduling a visit. DCSO states that social visits are video visits only. Face-to-face social visits are not available. Free on-site social visits occur at the Work Center, while paid remote visits use the TELMATE/ViaPath system through GettingOut, phone scheduling, or kiosks.

Those rules connect the roster search to the next step: the person must be in eligible custody, the visit must be scheduled through the vendor, and jail staff may restrict visits around meals, programs, health care, work assignments, or safety needs.

Request Deschutes County Records
Current custody should be checked through the roster and jail information line first. Historic booking records, releasable reports, or record copies belong with the sheriff Records Unit. The DCSO Records Unit is listed at the main sheriff campus, with public counter hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The records page says the unit handles report review, report control, public-information release, records maintenance, data entry, and confidentiality decisions.
For a formal request, use the sheriff's public records request page rather than the general county form when the record is a sheriff jail or booking record. Oregon public records law can require disclosure of non-exempt records, but DCSO identifies exemptions for medical information, juvenile records, ongoing investigations, and pre-conviction mugshots. The county's general public records guidance also says court, criminal, and sheriff records must go to the correct custodian.
Note: A roster charge is not a conviction. Court filing status belongs in Oregon court records, not in the jail roster alone.
Mail, Phone, and Money
Once custody is verified, DCSO publishes separate rules for mail, phone accounts, property, and money. Mail must go through the U.S. Postal Service and use the inmate's complete name, Deschutes County Adult Jail, 63333 Hwy 20 West, Bend, OR 97703. A full return name and address are required. The jail rejects many common items, including adhesive return labels, stickers, transportation schedules, maps, hardback books, stationery, stamps, paper clips, and contraband.

The roster can tell a family that a person is in custody, but it does not replace these operational pages. Confirm status before sending money, scheduling a visit, or mailing items because release, transfer, and housing changes can happen quickly.
